Snapshot comparison

What the comparison shows

The comparison outputs the differences between two saved states: system settings, hardware, programs, processes, services and other selected snapshot categories.

How to compare

1. Open “Recovery” → the BoosterX tab and click “Compare”.
2. Select the first snapshot and click “Add to comparison”.
3. Select the second one. The “Current” option is not stored in snapshots: its data is collected when the comparison starts — this is indicated by the label “Will be collected when the comparison starts”.
4. Click “Start comparison” and wait for the table to be built.
5. Enable “Show only differences” to hide matching entries.

A corrupted snapshot does not participate in the comparison: it is marked with the status “Backup is corrupted and unavailable for selection”. First create snapshots on the local backup snapshots page.

How to read the result

• the counters at the top show added, removed and changed entries;
• if an entry is present in only one snapshot, this does not yet mean it was removed from Windows;
• processes and the amount of occupied memory may differ because the snapshots were taken at different times;
• unavailable and corrupted categories cannot be used as proof of a change.

The comparison helps to find out when a difference appeared. Its cause must be verified separately. To assess the impact on performance, take measurements before and after the change under identical conditions.
