What changes

According to the visible description, BoosterX Inventory Collector gathers information about the device’s hardware and software: model, manufacturer, CPU type, installed applications and other details. Collection runs periodically as part of Windows servicing, not continuously. The collected inventory is used by compatibility diagnostics: it feeds the upgrade readiness assessment covered by a separate setting, «Microsoft Compatibility Appraiser compatibility assessment task». Disabling it reduces the transmission of the list, but does not remove devices and programs and does not stop all Windows telemetry.

Exceptions and differences

BoosterX supports the setting on Windows 10 and Windows 11. The difference from Appraiser: “Inventory Collector” disables inventory collection, while Appraiser disables the scheduled compatibility assessment based on it; to opt out of the entire channel, disable both settings. Do not expect a permanent load reduction: collection runs episodically.

How to verify the result

Open “Task Scheduler” (“Control Panel” → “Administrative Tools”) and find the inventory tasks in the tree under “Microsoft → Windows → Device Information”: they should be shown as disabled.

How to change and revert

Open “Optimization” → “Privacy” → “Windows diagnostics and reports” → “Inventory Collector” and set the toggle to “Enabled”: BoosterX will apply the disabling of hardware and software inventory collection. Click “Apply”. If “Instant apply” is enabled, a separate button is not required. To revert, set the toggle to “Disabled” and apply the change again: BoosterX will return Windows to its default state with inventory collection running.
