Situational

Can be disabled for privacy: Windows will stop keeping an activity log and sending it to Microsoft.

Synchronization of recent activity between devices with the same account will stop. This is not a CPU tweak.

What changes

Windows stops collecting the activity log — the history of launched apps and opened documents — and sending it to Microsoft. Cloud synchronization of the history also stops: the “continue on another device” feature with the same Microsoft account is no longer fed with new entries.

In Windows 10 the activity log was shown in Timeline — the “Task View” representation; in Windows 11 there is no Timeline, but the activity log page itself remains in the privacy settings, and the setting applies to it. Management of the system policy and the user history is separated — this is confirmed in the privacy policies study.

How to verify the result

Open the activity log page in Settings: in Windows 10 — “Privacy → Activity history”, in Windows 11 — “Privacy & security → Activity history”. Collection and sending of the log must be disabled; some settings may be displayed as managed by policy.

How to change and revert

In BoosterX open “Optimization” → “Customization” → “Windows features” → “Activity Feed” and set the toggle to “Enabled”: BoosterX will apply the disabling of the activity feed. Click “Apply” at the bottom of the page; with “Instant apply” enabled, the change is made immediately. To revert, set the toggle to “Disabled”: BoosterX will return Windows to its default state — the log is collected and synchronized again.
