On a laptop with Windows 10, enable it if you prefer the old menu with the battery percentage and power plan selection.

The setting does not create a new power plan and does not change CPU limits — only the selection interface.

What changes

Clicking the battery icon opens the classic Win32 power menu instead of the modern one: it shows the charge as a percentage, brightness controls and a link to power plan selection, whereas the new menu is a compact panel with a brightness slider. According to the BoosterX description, the menu “with a slider” is replaced by the old one, where you can select power plans.

Exceptions and differences

Applicability is narrow: the setting is intended for Windows 10 on laptops. BoosterX hides it on Windows 11 and on desktop PCs without a battery — there the old menu does not exist or makes no sense; the shell research confirms hiding on Windows 11 after the applicability check. If visual taskbar errors appear after the change, restore the original state.

How to verify the result

Click the battery icon in the notification area: the classic menu should open — charge as a percentage, brightness and power plan selection, rather than a panel with a slider. Check that the plan selected in the menu matches the active one in Windows.

How to change and revert

In BoosterX, open “Optimization” → “Customization” → “Windows Shell” → “Old power selection menu” and turn on the toggle. Click “Apply” at the bottom of the page; with “Instant apply” enabled, the change is applied immediately. To revert, turn off the setting and click “Apply” — the modern menu with the slider returns.
