What changes

The chat button that opens the built-in communication app disappears from the taskbar. The result is that the button is gone, but the app is not removed: it can still be launched from the list of apps in the Start menu or via search.

Hiding the button removes only the entry point. If the goal is to reduce the background activity of the communication app, check its Startup apps and background mode separately: the setting itself does not do this.

Applicability is limited. The setting is shown only in Windows 11 — in Windows 10 it is hidden. Moreover, BoosterX describes it as a setting for the old chat button that existed in Windows 11 before version 23H2: in newer versions the button is already gone, and the setting does not apply to them.

How to verify the result

After applying, there is no chat button on the taskbar, and the app itself can be found via search in the Start menu and launched from there.

How to change and revert

Open Optimization → Customization → Search and assistants → Show Chat on the taskbar and set the toggle to “On”: BoosterX will apply hiding of the chat button. Click “Apply” at the bottom of the page; if “Instant apply” is enabled, a separate button is not required. To revert, set the toggle to “Off”: BoosterX will return Windows to its default state — the chat button is shown again.
