The setting blocks regular pop-up toast notifications from apps and lock screen notifications. At the same time, it does not disable the notification center itself or the quick settings panel in Windows 11.

Some Windows messages will continue to appear. According to Microsoft documentation, certain system features and legacy taskbar balloons are controlled by other mechanisms.

What changes

  • Apps do not show regular pop-up toast banners.
  • Toast notifications are not displayed over the lock screen.
  • The notification center and quick settings remain available.
  • System warnings that are not app toast notifications may continue to appear.

Disable notifications if they are distracting. A fixed RAM or CPU saving has not been confirmed.

How to choose

  • On a gaming or work PC, you can disable banners if none of them carry important notifications.
  • If email, calendar, messengers or work applications require a quick response, leave notifications enabled or configure them per app in Windows.
  • If you only need quick settings, their panel will continue to work after banners are disabled.

How to verify the result

After applying, trigger a notification from an app that usually shows a banner. The banner should not appear. Then open the notification center and quick settings to make sure the interface remains available.

How to change and revert

In BoosterX, open «Optimization» → «Basic» → «Input and interface» → «Windows 11 notifications» and set the toggle to “Enabled”: BoosterX will apply the disabling of pop-up notifications. Click «Apply» at the bottom of the page. If «Instant apply» is enabled, a separate button is not required.

To revert, set «Windows 11 notifications» to “Disabled” and click «Apply»: BoosterX will restore the standard notifications, and apps will again be able to show toast banners within their own Windows permissions.
