What changes

Shell animations disappear. Minimizing and restoring windows, opening new windows and dialogs happens instantly. The taskbar stops animating elements, the smooth fade-in of the translucent frame when selecting files in File Explorer and “Aero Peek” — the desktop preview when hovering over the right edge of the taskbar — are gone.

Everything that is not an animation remains: the windows and lists themselves, font smoothing, wallpapers. Transparency and acrylic are controlled by a separate setting “Windows transparency” and are not disabled by this setting.

Exceptions and differences

The action is limited to the Windows shell: games and applications with their own animations are not affected, and no FPS gain was measured. Instant transitions feel faster primarily on a weak PC — this is a local interface effect. If text or individual elements start to look worse, revert the state or fine-tune “Appearance”.

How to verify the result

Minimize and restore any window: the transition should happen instantly, without a grow animation. Then select several files in File Explorer — the selection frame appears immediately, without a smooth fade-in.

How to change and revert

In BoosterX, open “Optimization” → “Customization” → “Visual effects” → “Reduce visual effects” and turn on the toggle. Click “Apply” at the bottom of the page; with “Instant apply” enabled, the change is applied immediately. To revert, turn off the setting and click “Apply” — the animations will return.
