What changes
Section titled “What changes”Usually locking (Win+L) and waking from sleep first show a decorative lock screen: a background image and notifications, and only then the sign-in screen asking for a password or PIN. This setting removes that intermediate screen: the sign-in window opens immediately.
Visible result: the lock screen wallpaper is not shown, and notifications on the lock screen are not displayed. Session locking itself does not go anywhere: the system still locks, and the password, PIN and other sign-in methods are not disabled.
Exceptions and differences
Section titled “Exceptions and differences”The setting works in both Windows 10 and Windows 11. It is applied at the system policy level, and BoosterX warns that Windows updates may bring the screen back. On a managed device, an organization may override the behavior. The setting does not change gaming performance.
How to verify the result
Section titled “How to verify the result”Press Win+L: the sign-in screen opens immediately, without the background screen with wallpaper and notifications.
How to change and revert
Section titled “How to change and revert”Open Optimization → Customization → Windows Shell → Lock Screen and set the toggle to “On”: BoosterX will apply the lock screen disable. Click “Apply” at the bottom of the page; if “Instant apply” is enabled, a separate button is not required. To revert, set the toggle to “Off”: BoosterX will return Windows to its default state with the lock screen.
