On a stable gaming PC, the task can be disabled if a repeated automatic assessment is not needed.

After replacing the GPU, a drive or a driver, Windows may take the new results into account when selecting certain settings. If you suspect that the hardware was detected incorrectly, restore the original state.

What changes

The setting disables the scheduled automatic Windows performance assessment — according to the visible BoosterX description, “the task runs a performance check”. The assessment measures PC subsystems: processor, memory, graphics, drive. Windows takes its result into account, including when selecting certain visual effects and settings that depend on the assessment. The assessment does not change the actual speed of the hardware and does not prohibit manual diagnostics. Starting with Windows 8.1, the final index is hidden from the interface, so the result is visible only indirectly — through system behavior.

Exceptions and differences

• The expected effect applies only to the time when the check would have run; the setting does not reduce constant load.
• A noticeable scenario is a change of GPU, drive or driver: Windows may re-assess the configuration. After such a hardware upgrade, restore the setting.
• The setting is available in both Windows 10 and Windows 11 — there are no version restrictions in BoosterX.

How to verify the result

There is no direct visible sign: the assessment index is hidden from the interface. An indirect check is to restore the setting after replacing the GPU or drive so that Windows performs a re-assessment; if you suspect an incorrect selection of visual effects, also restore the original state.

How to change and revert

Open “Optimization” → “Tasks” → “Diagnostics and analysis” → “Automatic performance check” and move the toggle to the “Enabled” position: BoosterX will disable the scheduled performance assessment. Click “Apply” at the bottom of the page; if “Instant apply” is enabled, a separate button is not required. To revert, move the toggle to the “Disabled” position and apply the change again: BoosterX will return Windows to its default state with the task enabled.
