Enable it if you regularly create scripts and .reg files: new empty files are available from the “New” submenu.

Regular users do not need these items: files created by mistake are easy to run with a double click.

What changes

In the standard “New” submenu of the context menu, entries appear for empty .bat, .ps1 and .reg files. It works both on the desktop and inside any folder: right-click on an empty area → “New” → the desired file type. The created file opens empty — you can start writing a script right away, without opening Notepad or changing the extension manually.

Exceptions and differences

The file is safe as long as it is empty, but each type has a “double click”: .bat and .ps1 run as scripts, .reg immediately writes the recorded data to the registry. Check the contents of other people’s and downloaded files before running them, especially with administrator rights. The setting does not add the tools themselves: PowerShell and the cmd interpreter are already part of Windows.

How to verify the result

Right-click on an empty area of any folder or the desktop and open “New”: the list should contain items for .bat, .ps1 and .reg. Create a file — it will appear in the folder and open empty.

How to change and revert

In BoosterX, open “Optimization” → “Customization” → “Context menu” → “Scripts and REG files in the “New” menu“ and turn on the toggle. Click “Apply” at the bottom of the page; with “Instant apply” enabled, the change is applied immediately. To revert, turn off the setting and click “Apply” — the items will disappear from “New”.
