What changes

BoosterX Performance plan for responsiveness under load: on AC, minimum processor state is 100 %, core parking is disabled, turbo mode is aggressive, priority goes to performance cores, selective USB suspension and PCIe power saving are disabled. Display, sleep, hibernation, power button and lid settings are not affected, nor are the on-battery values.

Visible behavior in the app: the setting is shown only in expert mode, and when applied, BoosterX warns about the need to monitor the processor temperature: overheating and throttling noticeably reduce performance.

Exceptions and differences

  • The mode is not suitable for a laptop as a permanent one: heat and battery drain increase.
  • At idle, power consumption and temperature are higher than in “Balanced” — the price of a 100 % minimum state.
  • If temperature, noise or power draw increased without an improvement in frametime, return the stock plan.

How PowerX v2.1 differs from v3.1

v2.1 is designed for stationary and well-cooled systems: minimum processor state on AC is 100 %, cores are not parked, turbo mode is aggressive. PowerX v3.1 is intended for Intel without overclocking, including mobile: it keeps Turbo Boost but allows frequency reduction and parking of some cores at idle — idle is calmer and cooler. The difference is based on the app’s visible descriptions; FPS DocsX measurements were not performed.

How to verify the result

The PowerX plan appeared in the Windows plan list and is marked active (the “Power options” window of Control Panel). At idle, the processor frequency does not drop and all cores are active. Evaluate the gaming effect by 1% low and frametime against “Balanced”, together with temperature.

How to change and revert

In BoosterX, select the “Expert” display level, then open “Optimization” → “Power options” → “Power plans for import” → “PowerX v2.1” and apply the setting. Click “Apply” at the bottom of the page; with “Instant apply” enabled, the change is made immediately, no reboot is needed. Then select the PowerX plan in the “Power options” window of Control Panel if it did not become active on its own.

To revert, select the previous plan in the same window — the PowerX plan will remain in the list.
