What changes

The PowerX v3.1 plan is designed for Intel processors without overclocking capability (Non-K), including mobile models. Unlike PowerX v2.1, it does not keep the processor at maximum: Turbo Boost is preserved and engages under load, but at idle the plan allows the frequency to drop and some cores to park — the minimum processor state on AC is low; long loads run on performance cores, short ones are distributed by Windows.

As in v2.1, screen, sleep, power button and lid settings are not changed, and battery parameters are not overridden. It is shown only in expert mode.

Exceptions and differences

  • The plan is hidden on systems with AMD and on overclockable Intel (K series) — according to the app’s visible description; there PowerX v2.1 or the stock plans are intended.
  • The result depends on the processor’s support for hardware frequency switching acceleration (Intel Speed Shift), firmware and the Windows version.
  • The FPS gain was not measured: compare frametime and 1% low with “Balanced”.

How to verify the result

The PowerX v3.1 plan has appeared in the Windows plan list and is marked active (the “Power options” window of Control Panel). The behavior is the opposite of v2.1: at idle the processor frequency drops and some cores park, while under load Turbo Boost raises the frequency to maximum.

How to change and revert

In BoosterX, select the display level “Expert”, then open “Optimization” → “Power options” → “Power plans for import” → “PowerX v3.1” and apply the setting. Click “Apply” at the bottom of the page; if “Instant apply” is enabled, the change is made immediately, no reboot is needed. Then select the PowerX v3.1 plan in the “Power options” window of Control Panel if it did not become active on its own.

To revert, select the previous plan in the same window — the plan will remain in the list.
