Internet Test measures connection quality for games: latency without load and during data transfer, as well as download and upload speed. The test uses a UDP connection rather than an ICMP ping.

  1. In the BoosterX main menu, open Tools → Internet Test.
  2. Select a server or leave the automatic selection.
  3. Close downloads, cloud sync and other network tests.
  4. Start the test: first “Packets without load” are measured, then “Packets with data download” and “Packets with data upload”.

Measurements under load show how the line behaves when the channel is loaded with receiving or sending at maximum — for example, during a patch download or a stream.

For each of the three measurements the following is shown:

Metric What it means
Min. Minimum ping
Avg. Average ping
Max. Maximum ping
Med. Median — the value in the middle of all measurements
Lost Number of lost packets
Jitter Average ping deviation: frequent spikes = jitter
Out of sync Late packets that the game does not count

At the top there is a speed panel (“Client”, “Server”, “Data exchange”), at the bottom — a “Results” button with a detailed analysis. The final caption evaluates the connection directly: “At the moment your internet for … is excellent”, “normal” or “below average” — with specific recommendations, for example to reboot the router. Bufferbloat is evaluated separately for sending and for receiving data: whether the adapter and router cope with queues under load.

A single run cannot judge the quality of the provider’s line. The result is affected by Wi-Fi, the server, the route, background transfers, time of day and the state of the network equipment. In the advanced parameters the test duration and packet parameters are set — change them only for a repeat experiment and keep the same conditions: results with different settings cannot be compared.

Internet Test does not replace route diagnostics and does not prove the cause of losses or latency.
