What changes

According to the BoosterX catalog, the group disables only the background synchronization of Xbox cloud saves: judging by the visible description, the tasks “handle saving” — they copy game saves to the cloud and transfer them between devices, including launch at sign-in. Game Bar, the Xbox app, Microsoft account sign-in and the games themselves continue to work. Game Pass games launch, but their saves are no longer synchronized automatically.

Exceptions and differences

  • Cloud progress that has already been synchronized is not deleted; third-party game launchers and their clouds are not affected.
  • Synchronization runs in the background, including at sign-in, so disabling it cuts exactly these background launches; the impact on sign-in time was not measured.
  • The setting is available in both Windows 10 and Windows 11 — there are no version restrictions in BoosterX.

How to verify the result

Launch a game from Game Pass, play and exit it, then check the save synchronization status in the game or on another device with the same account: new progress is not transferred. Account sign-in and Game Bar work as usual.

How to change and revert

Open “Optimization” → “Tasks” → “Microsoft ecosystem” → “XBOX” and set the toggle to “Enabled”: BoosterX will disable background synchronization of Xbox cloud saves. Click “Apply” at the bottom of the page; if “Instant apply” is enabled, a separate button is not required. To revert, set the toggle to “Disabled” and apply the change again: BoosterX will return Windows to its default state with save synchronization enabled.
