Leave the permission if you send SMS from your PC via Phone Link; without phone integration, blocking is safe.

What changes

BoosterX enables a general block for Store/UWP apps — the same global toggle as on the Windows page “Settings” → “Privacy” → “App permissions” → “Messages”. The visible consumers are sending SMS from a PC: for example, Phone Link reads and sends messages from a connected phone, and in Windows 10 the “Messages” app was also used for this. After the block, Store apps lose the ability to read and send messages through the system interface.

Exceptions and differences

Classic Win32 messengers use their own communication channels and are not subject to the block. A targeted block for a single app remains on the same system page. BoosterX supports this setting in Windows 10 and Windows 11; the name of the “Settings” section and the set of permission pages depend on the version — check them on your system.

How to verify the result

Connect your phone in Phone Link and send a message from your PC. Apply the block, restart the app and try again — sending and syncing messages should not work.

How to change and revert

Open “Optimization” → “Privacy” → “App permissions” → “App access to messages”, set the toggle to “On”: BoosterX will apply the block on reading and sending messages. Click “Apply”. If “Instant apply” is enabled, a separate button is not required. To revert, set the toggle to “Off” and apply the change again: BoosterX will return Windows to its default state with apps allowed to work with messages.
