Disable

Disable it: ads will not disappear, but they will stop being tailored to you, and BoosterX recommends disabling it for all gaming devices.

Restore the setting if you use personal Microsoft Store picks and suggestions in the Start menu.

Personalization is built on the Windows advertising ID and app usage history. After disabling, the ID is no longer used: ads and recommendations, for example in Microsoft Store, remain, but become generic, without targeted tailoring. According to the visible description, BoosterX also disables personal tips and suggestions in the Start menu, including the silent installation of suggested apps. Resetting the advertising ID is a separate action: it clears the accumulated profile, but does not disable personalization itself.

The built-in toggles are in Windows Settings → Privacy → General (in Windows 11 — Settings → Privacy & security → General): the advertising ID reset is also there. The setting does not remove ads in browsers and on websites — it is not connected to internet advertising networks. BoosterX warns that disabling may affect the “Your Phone” scenarios and phone synchronization: if you use them, restore the state.

Open Microsoft Store and look at the recommendations section: the suggestions should become generic, without tailoring to your installations and usage history.

Open “Optimization” → “Privacy” → “System privacy” → “Targeted advertising and marketing”, move the toggle to “On”: BoosterX will apply the disabling of the advertising ID and personalization. Click “Apply”. If “Instant apply” is enabled, a separate button is not required. To revert, move the toggle to “Off” and apply the change again: BoosterX will return the Windows default state with personalization enabled.
