First install all the required languages, keyboard layouts, speech recognition and handwriting input.

After that, the tasks can be disabled. Before adding or removing a language, restore the original state.

What changes

The setting disables background servicing of Windows languages. According to the visible description, the BoosterX tasks “install or remove the required or unnecessary languages that were selected by the user”. It affects the background installation and updating of language components — speech recognition, handwriting input, OCR, fonts; the removal of long-unused language resources; and the synchronization of language settings. Installed languages and keyboard layouts continue to work. Disabling does not speed up input and does not reduce keyboard latency.

Exceptions and differences

• Manual installation of languages via “Settings” → “Time & language” remains available, but background components may fail to load: the language or its component hangs in a pending state. In this case, revert the setting and repeat the installation.
• The setting is available in both Windows 10 and Windows 11 — there are no version restrictions in BoosterX.

How to verify the result

Add a new language or an additional component in Windows (for example, speech recognition). With the tasks disabled, the download does not complete — the component remains in a pending state. Revert the setting and repeat the installation: the component downloads to completion.

How to change and revert

Open “Optimization” → “Tasks” → “Microsoft Ecosystem” → “Installing and removing languages” and move the toggle to the “Enabled” position: BoosterX will disable the background language servicing tasks. Click “Apply” at the bottom of the page; if “Instant apply” is enabled, a separate button is not required. To revert, move the toggle to the “Disabled” position and apply the change again: BoosterX will return Windows to its default state with the tasks enabled.
