What changes

Telemetry services are a group of background Windows services that run in the background and collect information about the user. According to the visible BoosterX description, disabling them prevents unwanted background use of the processor and the internet: the services in the group stop running.

Exceptions and differences

This does not stop all Windows telemetry: the diagnostic data level is set separately (“Telemetry in the data collection policy”), error reports and background collection jobs, for example “Application Impact Telemetry Agent task”), are disabled independently, and third-party applications use their own network services. If there are problems with updates, compatibility or diagnostics, first restore the original state.

The DiagTrack service is controlled by two cards: this one disables it together with the group of telemetry services, while “Background ETW autologgers” stops it before disabling the logs. If DiagTrack is enabled again, it can restore the Diagtrack-Listener, so when returning diagnostics, check both settings.

How to verify the result

Open “Resource Monitor” → the “Network” tab and watch the background processes: connections to Microsoft diagnostic services no longer appear. This is a qualitative check; the amount of saved traffic is not measured. If activity persists in the current session, restart the PC and repeat the observation.

How to change and revert

Open “Optimization” → “Privacy” → “Windows diagnostics and reports” → “Telemetry services” and set the toggle to “Enabled”: BoosterX will apply the disabling of the group of background telemetry services. Click “Apply”. With “Instant apply” enabled, a separate button is not required; the visible BoosterX description does not state a separate reboot requirement — rely on the check above. To revert, set the toggle to “Disabled” and apply the change again: BoosterX will return Windows to its default state with the telemetry services running.
