For games — disable the shortcut

Turn off the shortcut if Shift is a working key in games: an accidental series of five presses will no longer open the Sticky Keys dialog.

The feature itself remains available in Windows “Accessibility”.

What changes

Sticky Keys is a feature that lets you press combinations like Ctrl + V one at a time, without holding the modifier. By default it is enabled by a prompt: pressing Shift five times opens a dialog offering to turn on Sticky Keys. In games where Shift is used constantly, an accidental series of presses opens this dialog and minimizes the fullscreen game. This setting removes exactly the hotkey shortcut: the dialog on five presses of Shift stops appearing.

While Sticky Keys is not active, it does not create input latency — disabling the shortcut does not optimize input lag and does not increase FPS, it only removes the accidental window. The feature itself remains in “Accessibility” and is enabled there manually, so availability is not lost.

How to verify the result

Press Shift five times in a row: the Sticky Keys dialog should not appear. Check in a game as well — a series of Shift presses no longer minimizes the window. To revert, set the toggle back to “Off” and make sure the dialog appears again.

How to change and revert

In BoosterX, open “Optimization” → “Customization” → “Input and keyboard” → “Sticky Keys” and set the toggle to “On”: BoosterX will apply the disabling of the Sticky Keys shortcut. Click “Apply” at the bottom of the page; with “Instant apply” enabled, the change is applied immediately. To revert, set the toggle to “Off”: BoosterX will return Windows to its default state — pressing Shift five times opens the dialog again.
