Power options
On this page
Windows boot, session saving, hybrid sleep and disk space usage depend on power settings.
Power plans
Section titled “Power plans”A reasonable baseline for everyday work; use performance modes selectively.
Minimum CPU state 100 % for desktop PCs on AC power.
Minimum idle time and micro-latency at the cost of power draw and heat.
For battery, quiet sessions and weak cooling; not for games.
BoosterX performance plan; desktop only with sufficient cooling.
Turbo Boost under load without maximum at idle; for Intel without overclocking.
Additional settings
Section titled “Additional settings”Locking the GPU in a high state during P-State switching stutters.
Double-clicking a .pow imports the plan into the Windows plan list.
Choose a plan based on test results. Compare clock speeds, temperature, power draw, FPS and frametime in the same scenario: a plan’s name alone is not enough to choose it. On a laptop, test AC power and battery operation separately.
