What changes
Section titled “What changes”By default, Windows can collect samples of typed text and handwriting and send them to Microsoft to improve handwriting recognition and language processing. This setting restricts that collection: samples stop being sent. The trade-off is personalization: word prediction and adaptation to your vocabulary and handwriting no longer improve on your data.
Exceptions and differences
Section titled “Exceptions and differences”Regular keyboard input is not affected, and this setting does not reduce input latency — it is about privacy, not performance. The standard toggle for the same collection is in Windows Settings: in Windows 10 it is “Privacy → Diagnostics & feedback → Improve inking and typing”; in Windows 11 the section is called “Privacy & security”. A related setting: “Feedback on input”.
How to verify the result
Section titled “How to verify the result”After applying, open the diagnostics and feedback page in Settings and check the state of the improve recognition toggle. Then simply type text in any field — input works unchanged.
How to change and revert
Section titled “How to change and revert”In BoosterX, open “Optimization” → “Customization” → “Input and keyboard” → “Text and handwriting data collection” and set the toggle to “On”: BoosterX will apply the restriction on text and handwriting collection. Click “Apply” at the bottom of the page; with “Instant apply” enabled, the change is applied immediately. To revert, set the toggle to “Off”: BoosterX will return Windows to its default state — collection and adaptation of suggestions will resume.
