What changes

The “policies” in the name are corporate environment mechanisms: the background application of security policies, certificates and related parameters set by an organization. According to the visible BoosterX description, the tasks “update policies on computers in a corporate network.” On a home PC not joined to a domain, Entra ID or MDM, such policies have no source — the task does no useful work. On a managed device, disabling it stops the background update of the organization’s policies and certificates.

Exceptions and differences

• The setting does not disable Windows updates, Defender and other update mechanisms of the system itself — only the corporate policy contour.
• The setting is available in both Windows 10 and Windows 11 — BoosterX has no version restrictions.
• Disabling does not reduce the network latency of games.

How to verify the result

On a home PC outside a domain and MDM there is no separate visible sign: the task simply stops running, and normal Windows operation does not change. On a managed device the criterion is the opposite: if security policies and certificates have stopped arriving from the organization, revert the setting.

How to change and revert

Open “Optimization” → “Tasks” → “Network and corporate features” → “Policy update” and set the toggle to “Enabled”: BoosterX will disable the corporate policy update tasks. Click “Apply” at the bottom of the page; if “Instant apply” is enabled, a separate button is not required. To revert, set the toggle to “Disabled” and apply the change again: BoosterX will return Windows to its default state with the tasks enabled.
